Okay, I don’t know if I am opening a can of worms on this or not but it’s my opinion and opinions are like you know what – everybody has one.
I am caucasian and I was brought up believing that white people should be with white people. I had ethnic friends and I still do. My question is… would you let your child date someone outside their race?
I know people who would absolutely not want their children dating outside of their race and they say it is because of the way they were raised.
I would not care who my kids dated as long as the person was a good person, no matter what race. I don’t think it is right for me to judge. God created all of us in His image.
I am very interested in what other people think about this topic. I am not talking about just black and white – I am speaking of all races.
What do you think?
Interesting topic. As I am of Asian descent, I can tell you from what I am told by a high school teacher and some people nearly 15 years ago, that in the past an interracial relationship between a European and an Asian was greatly frowned upon and Eurasian kids were like “neither here nor there”. However, for the past four decades in Asia, interracial relationships are now becoming acceptable (although there are some people against it). If you are in an Asian country of today, a Eurasian child/person is the envy of his/her fellow pure-blooded Asian peers because Eurasians are considered beautiful due to their mixed blood. I can name some famous Eurasians like Karen Mok (born Karen Joy Morrison who 1/4 Chinese, 1/4 Welsh, 1/4 Iranian and 1/4 German), Daniel Henney (half Irish-American and half Korean), Nikita star Maggie Q( half Irish-American and half-Vietnamese), Kristin Kreuk (half Dutch Canadian and half Chinese), Kate Beckinsale (she is 1/8 Burmese) and James Wong ( the famous English ethnobotanist known for his show “How to Grow your own drugs” and he is half Chinese-Malaysian and half English). Last but not least, not forgetting Alexa Chung, Max Minghella (the late Anthony Minghella’s son) and Gok Wan.
I am Irish and I am very attracted to Asian men. I am married to a white man but I like to look. Ha ha. Daniel Henney is gorgeous!!! Thank you for reading. I like your blog and I am following you. You know a lot of interesting stuff. You know I am going to be looking all of this up. I did not know that about Kate Beckinsale. I thought that Bruce Lee was so sexy! I wanted to marry him when I was little.
Bruce Lee has some German blood from his mother who happened to be a Eurasian. Therefore, Bruce Lee is three-quarter Chinese and a quarter German. As for Kate Beckinsale, she has Burmese blood through her late father, the late Richard Beckinsale (who is a quarter Burmese). Another two well-known Eurasians who have been around long before Kate Beckinsale and the others came along, are Nancy Kwan the World of Suzie Wong actress (Chinese through her father and Scots through her mother) and famous author Han Suyin (check her out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_Suyin and she was named Asian Hero of 2006 by Time magazine: http://www.time.com/time/asia/2006/heroes/at_suyin.html)
I really enjoy your replies! You are so interesting. Thanks
